I am a lifelong baseball fan, currently living in Calgary. I’ve been a Diehard Red Sox fan since I was a child and Jim Rice was my favorite player. I spent 15 years lobbying the BBWAA to help get him inducted into the Hall of Fame, which culminated in me meeting him the day his #14 was retired in a pregame reception. I currently write about items of interest to Canadian Red Sox fans on the Red Sox Nation – Alberta blog.
As well, I started coaching baseball in1989 and continued on and off until 2009. I have been very involved in Youth baseball, not only coaching, but also serving on different organization’s Board of Directors in many capacities including Tournament Director, Umpire-In-Chief, Marketing, Technical Director and Player Development. I am currently a nationally certified level 3 umpire.
For as long as I can remember I’ve been scoring baseball games. Started as a child when for some reason I decided that I’d keep score while watching all-star games. As a coach I always needed volunteers to keep score, to help me compile player’s stats. Over the years I saw many unusual plays and many questions came up regarding their scoring. I would look up the appropriate rule afterwards and make mental notes. This site is a place where I will share what I have learned
